Mark Wahlberg & Jonah Hill to Join Forces for Buddy Action Movie the 'Good Time Gang' Looks like Mark Wahlberg is taking the action-comedy route again ala The Other Guys, only this time he's teaming with plump comedian Jonah Hill. The LA Times reports that Hill and Wahlberg will play a pair of absent-minded, partying mercenaries, who get serious when they realize a group of terrorists they're after involves one of their family members. I know Hill has just wrapped up the action-esque movie adaptation of 21 Jump Street, but the thought of him portraying a tough guy is about as appealing as Wahlberg signing on for another comedy. Those close to the project are describing it as a new twist on Lethal Weapon suggesting that the Good Time Gang might rely on the action more than the laughs. Why Jonah Hill then? What am I missing? There's no director attached yet, although the script will come from Max Landis (son of John) who has a few projects in development now, including the new Frankenstein reboot. Buddy action movies will always do well at the box office, though the odd pairing of Wahlberg and Hill might break that trend. If not for Will Ferrell, The Other Guys would've been painfully lousy. Someone like Adam Sandler, Paul Rudd or Jason Bateman seem better suited for this type of thing. I could see them being funny and capabale of beating a villian's ass. Not all comedians can flawlessly make the transition to an action movie and vice versa. See Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet or in Observe and Report as examples. What do you think of the Hill and Wahlberg combo in an action-comedy?

Oh that seems like a great project! I like Mark doing comedies & I love Jonah! I wish Leo would follow Mark's path and do a comedy...
