This is a thread that was started on the night of last season's finale. Some of us posters here used to be Narcos and some weren't, but we all have one thing in common now....our unappreciation for Rory/Dean as a couple. If you are a fan of this couple, please don't post here, because you won't like a lot of what we will be saying.

This is not a thread to bash Alexis Bledel or Jared Padalecki. We reserve our loathing for Rory and Dean, the Cheaters of Stars Hollow. Also, please do not bash any of your fellow posters. Let's be kind as we vent about our disdain for this couple.


Recap of the abominable story so far...and it's continuing.....ew











Reasons Why We Loathe Dean/Rory:

1. Because Dean did cheat and Rory was cheating with him.
2. Because they have no morals.
3. Because they're adulterers.
4. Because they make us nauseated.
5. Because they make us hurl.
6. Because they ruined Lorelai's big night at the inn and with Luke.
7. Because Lorelai did not raise Rory "to be the kind of girl who sleeps with someone else's husband."
8. Because it's all about ratings, and not the storytelling.
9. Because Lorelai was so disappointed.
10. Because Rory used to be a role model.
11. Because Lindsey is innocent in this whole mess.
12. Because Dean married Lindsey knowing that he still loved Rory.
13. Because they're still sneaking around.
14. Because they met in a dark alley after Lindsey asked her husband not to speak to Rory again.
15. Because Rory essentially blamed Lorelai by bringing up Christopher.
16. Because he took off his wedding ring before they had sex.
17. Because he has his wedding ring on while he's about to kiss Rory.
18. Because Rory rejected him and now she thinks she owns him.
19. Because from the beginning, Emily was right about Dean/Rory.
20. Because Lorelai trusted Dean.
21. Because Lorelai trusted her daughter.
22. Because Lorelai is a great mother and she doesn't deserve this.
23. Because this atrocious storyline has distorted the original concept of the show.
24. Because Rory and Dean are both hypocrites.
25. Because Lorelai's dreams were finally coming true, and now she has to deal with her daughter's adultery.
26. Because for some of us, this "storyline" has ruined season 1 D/R.
27. Because we want Lorelai to get out the dull hedge clippers.
28. Because nothing good can come out of this affair.
29. Because Lorelai understands the situation perfectly and so do we.
30. Because he's not "Rory's Dean"; he's "Lindsey's Dean".
31. Because Rory is the Other Woman..
32. Because they suck and so does this storyline.
33. Because this couple had closure back in season 3.

Everytime I feel close to forgiving Rory and Dean, I see that cap of Lorelai look so hurt and disappointed and my hatred for those two flare up again. Damn AS-P and her writing minions!

Thanks for starting the new thread, Avi. I love the title.

I didn't mind Dean before his whole Rory-can't-say-I-love-you-back freak-out. After that I was always annoyed whenever he came on screen... but my unappreciation of this couple just got worse from the moment when Rory, who has no backbone and can't seem to stand on her own without someone propping her up on that pedestal of hers, was once again so lonely and forlorn and deprived of the lovesick puppy's constant stalkerish attention... takes him back and says that she loves the idiot!!

Yeah. Right.

Whatever.

It would have been believable, and everything else that happened after that, had there been some inkling, some ounce of fire, passion, chemistry, combustion with them... but watching them together at any time since then has been like watching paint dry. Boring. Long. Tedious. Mind Numbing. And then, to have the writers try to make us believe that they really do have these feelings for each other, and are now unable to keep their hands off each other, is an insult to my intelligence. What is even sadder, is that some people actually believe it, that their reconnection was "written in the stars" and meant to be.



From what was touched upon with them in the last episode, I hope it's the beginning of the end. A real, true and final end this time. Once and for all.

But why am I not holding my breath... ?

Yay new thread! Though I don't have the energy to talk about this couple anymore... they just disgust me that much. It's sad how they used to annoy me back in Season 1, but now the whole adultery thing makes them about a million times worse because now I hate both characters, as opposed to just hating Dean in the past.

I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who took note of/was horrified by him freaking out after the I love you and breaking up with her.

Now...if Lorelai had. If I had gone into the grocery store and started screaming and found out it started over an "I love you" that didn't turn out right...I woulda screamed louder.

I think what bothers me the most about this storyline is that Rory has shown very little awareness that what she did was terribly wrong, and was very hurtful to another human being (Lindsay). I mean, Dean was an ass for cheating on his wife... but, I'm not concerned with him.

As one of the two main protagonists on the show, Rory should be a more sympathetic character. I'm not saying that she should be perfect. And, I think I could have even lived with this storyline if she I could understand the reasoning behind it.

But, Rory has never explained why she did this. And, she really hasn't shown that she has learned from this. She said she "messed up" in Ep. 5.02. But, then she went back to him. Why? I want to understand more than anything. I want Lorelai to sit Rory down and ask her "Why Dean? Why now?" WHY????

If there's a reason that I can understand then I'd be more willing to see this storyline through.

As of right now, I'm just waiting for Dean to take a hike, for Rory to realize she made a huge mistake, and for her to fall for Logan... and have Logan not fall for her... Yet. Let the girl squirm a bit.

I agree Hannah, I would love to see Rory squirm. It's always been the guys who have gone and fell for her. The closest she came to falling for a guy and not learning, just feeling, was with Jess. Although I would love to see her falling for Logan first, maybe once they get together he'll help her defrost a bit. And maybe make her more aware of how her actions can affect each other. What's really sad is that (and I think this must have been pointed out many times before) Rory was never aware of how her actions affected people around her. Skipping school and heading for NYC made her miss her mother's graduation for crying out loud. The bad review she gave in Die Jerk probably ruined the girl's dreams. I don't want to think about this anymore. I gotta get me ready for other ways TPTB can disappoint me, starting with tonight's episode.

She said she "messed up" in Ep. 5.02. But, then she went back to him. Why?

I think she just meant that she handled the aftermath badly. Shutting Lorelai out and leaving for Europe without telling Dean. But I don't think she felt that sleeping with Dean was "messing up". Which make me sick.

And It looks like Princess Rory is now going to start falling for Logan, or at least hanging out with him more. Which I'm sure Dean will love. Not that he doesn't deserve everything he gets. But if it means that Rory cheats on him, again, then... how are we supposed to give a crap about Rory.
She's not a very nice person at all anymore, IMO. And I don't see how our view of her is supposed to improve if she gets involved in another love triangle.

And also, I'm torn on Rory's reaction to Chris. In some weird way it's making me think of Lindsay telling Dean to stay away from Rory.
It's unreasonable for a wife to ask her husband to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, who has been bad mouthing their relationship all over town, but it's wonderful when Rory tells Chris to stay away from Lorelai when he needs their help?

Rory is worthy of forgiveness but Chris isn't?

Don't get me wrong, I think Chris is a total ass for the way he tramples all over Lorelai and Rory's feelings and then expects forgiveness. But Rory does the same thing. She hurts people and then flashes her pouty face and expects to be liked by all again. Like father, like daughter I guess.

I was just looking over the episode transcript for 5.02 to see what Rory said to Lorelai about messing up. And then I scrolled down to see Lindsay's mom yelling at Rory (to make me feel better ) And instead I ended up reading:

DEAN: [OS] I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I mean, can we do something? Can we get over this? LINDSAY: [OS] Too late!! Look out the window!

*frowns* "Can we get over this?" Did he mean... make up? I never heard it during the episode, I was too busy enjoying the sight of his clothes landing on the sidewalk.

All I want to say is, "I hate Dean." It's beyond preposterous that he and Rory are still together. Really, wtf? And that "sex making the heart grow fonder" line... wow, if ever I was close to puking this episode, that would have been the moment.
