Maybe it's just me, but I don't think this make sense:

If this is "what people do" then wouldn't she be doing what her natural instincts tell her to do? Not going against what her natural instincts tell her to do? Because going against them would be to do to the opposite of what a person would normally do... right? Maybe I'm just over analysing here.
I thought this was funny.
