Nice for Chris, but how will Lorelai feel about that? I can picture him in Paris, ecstatic to be free of the 'burden' for a while, making plans, and Lorelai being bugged by that. She mostly put her personal life on hold for 18 years to make Rory her first priority, and she'll think of Luke who jumped right in and made April his first priority...and here's Chris who can't wait to dump another one, and she won't like that one bit.
BTW - extended stay = a couple of months.
