TV INSIDER: Milo Going Superhuman

Milo Ventimiglia reports he's going the superhuman route in the 'Heroes' pilot he's currently shooting for NBC with Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar and Greg Grunberg.

"It's from the producers who did 'Crossing Jordan' and it's about every day people who develop superhuman powers," he says, adding, "It's less 'X-Men' and more just everyday people exhilarated and scared at the same time about walking through walls, sharing peoples' thoughts and any number of indefinable and indescribable powers."

Ventimiglia, who's currently co-starring with Matthew Modine on the WB's 'Bedford Diaries,' says Heroes follows "several different characters dispersed around the world, one in India, one in Japan, Texas, Nevada...and some of the stories cross over."

He describes his 'Heroes' character as "a bit of an empath. He's very honest, sympathetic...he senses what people are feeling and he heals people. Oh, and he thinks he can fly, that's about all I'll get into."

Ventimiglia, who recently popped back up on 'Gilmore Girls' as Rory's ex-love, Jess Mariano, says thus far he's thoroughly impressed by the topics explored in the two-hour 'Heroes' pilot he's shooting.

"If you really understand or fathom that we only use 10 percent of our brain, it's amazing," he notes. "My hat's off to ('Heroes' creator) Tim Kring. Its fun, it's exciting, it's scary and heartfelt...pretty much everything you'd want a TV show to be."
