I wish singers would make music like they did back then. I always have oldies on.

Me too. I love all those old shows as well, like Milton Berle and Ed Sullivan.

Oldies is a really general term . My kids think anything made before 98 is an oldie performed by "Old Guys". They do watch the old TV shows though.

I listen to an oldies station all the time . Rap is not my thing at all.

That's a very good point. I start to giggle when people think '80s music is 'old'. I think 60s, definitely, 70s...I guess 70s is probably thrown into this category now. But I guess it also depends on what type of music from the '70s. Could you imagine the Sex Pistols being classified as 'oldies'?

I guess it also has to do with the longevity of the artists career. If Springsteen hadn't released an album after Born to Run from 1975, he might have been considered an oldie as well.

There is only one good "oldies" station where I live...KEARTH. They have Beatles Sunday mornings where they play the Beatles and pepper little stories in between songs. Motown Mondays are my fave...

I would say I consider the 70's and back as oldies.

Motown! I love motown. For me, the 60's are oldies. 70's not so much.

I guess I rope the 70's in because the radio does.

It's a good thing too because otherwise some people wouldn't be exposed to that lovely decade.

I'm listening to Paul Anka.

Yeah, a lot of radio stations classify '70s as oldies. But, when you think about it, a lot of '70s music isn't quite as 'easy listening' as most of the more popular '60s music was so I guess it would be classified as, perhaps, 'classic' but not 'oldies'.

I think I should just go to bed.

Very true. There is a radio station that plays "classic" rock...

Yet, they play The Cars, which, I know they formed in the last 70's but had most of their success in the 80's.

That's a great band. I kind of listen to an oldies station. It's my local "we play what we want" station that plays 60's up to early 00's music. It has the name of "JACK" like some of these stations (Jack,Bob,Lucy). I've recently gotten into a lot of "old" music from 80's/90's over the past year:

Eagles
Springsteen
Cars
Oingo Boingo
Clash - They may have surpassed Smashing Pumpkins as my favorite band.
Beatles
Who
Pink Floyd
Red Hot Chili Peppers - their earlier stuff
