I'm pretty sure that the rules are that you have to connect the actors by 6 degrees at the most. It proves the whole point that everyone is connected to everyone by 6 degrees, more or less. Also the actors have to be connected through the projects they did together and not through personal relationships like went out, dated, best friends etc. At least that's how I know the game is played.
