1.1 'A Hard Day's Night' Episode Discussion
Meet Meredith Grey, a woman trying to lead a real life while doing a job that makes having a real life impossible. Meredith is a first year surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, the toughest surgical residency program west of Harvard. She and her fellow first-year interns were students yesterday; today they're doctors in a world where on the job training can be a matter of life and death. Such is the world of "Grey's Anatomy," ABC's midseason medical drama about young people struggling to become doctors and doctors struggling to remain human. It's a world filled with intensity, humor, sex and pain, in which the interns discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white - real life only comes in shades of grey.
Already the first episode made me love the show. Let's discuss! |

Nice episode. Most of the characters are interesting and charasmatic. I even liked Patrick Dempsey and I usually don't like him at all.

I appreciate the balance between funny and sad moments, that's what I'm looking for. I like both the cast and plot. I think 'The Nazi' is a genious character. Poor Izzie forced to do rectal exams though.

It wasn't my favorite, but Pilots rarely are.

I thought it was really good for a pilot. I really enjoyed it. We're just starting to get to know these characters, and already they're proving themselves as really well written and thought out.
I can't wait to watch more. The whole ep just totally caught me. Doesnt help that it's got Katie Heigl in it tho! Tahra __________________

I thought it was a great pilot episode. It set everything up ... there was a nice flow, and they have enough characters to distribute storylines. It's a good balance.
- I like Meredith. - The Nazi is a genus character. - Izzy with the rectal exams ... - George aka 007. Poor George ... I think he's cool. - Alex is a cocky ass ... and I'm glad someone called him on it. - I like Cristina, alot. She's a complex character I cannot wait to disect. Like I said ... I enjoyed the episode. I'm about ready to watch the second one ... and I am adding this to my list of Appointment TV. And I'm so glad this show got a board ... it's shocking that it was so fast. __________________

I posted most of my stuff about this episode on the TV board thread. However, it was a great pilot. I liked the humor and the real-life angst. Even Meredith's mother was a touching point.
Should we add the eppy number to the title? __________________

I must admit tho, I some similiarities to Roswell... Funny, considering!
- Isobel Stevens/Isabel Evans - Isobel was a model/Isabel wanted to be a model - Isabel was the Christmas Natzi/Isobel works with The Natzi - There's an Alex on both shows There were some other things I noticed that I can't really remember right now, but it definately flash backed me! But the show was pretty strong for it's pilot, good strong characters, minus Meredith who's quite weak but has the possibility of becoming stronger. The characters were well written, and seemed real. In some pilots, and some shows actually, the characters just dont seem to be real, they seem to be words written on paper still, but in this, they had come to life. I'm sure there were some medical things that weren't quite correct, being only a show they wouldn't be able to get everything exactly as it would be in a real hospital, but I'm not a doctor or anything, so I never noticed. I didn't get all "bleh?" when they were doing medical terms as often as I do in other medical programs, it was mainly in the second ep that that happened for me. So yea, all in all, I enjoyed it and thought it was wonderful. Tahra __________________

Exactly, it was a well written episode, I didn't notice any week moments. It made me cry, it made me laugh. It's a feature of good episode for me.

I don't think I posted on here about the intital eppy as I had posted on the thread on the television thread... however, as I have said on other threads here... this first eppy was what made me fall in love with the show... it showed all the variations of the show -- comedy, drama, love, angst, etc.
